Story-telling; the first information system

We started sharing information through the ancient practices of story-telling; the first information system. Storytelling in the form of Homeric tales, as monologue oratories, or as evening tales shared around the tribal fire describing the day’s high adventures of courage hunting prey.
Today, in the world of commerce and social media, story-telling has been upgraded with technologies that are assembled to deliver information to the organizations, people and systems when and where required through usable and accessible interfaces.
The role of IT is to provision a pragmatic approach to Gather, Access, Store and Secure data so that it can be used at the intersect of an ‘Activity’ performed by ‘Actors’ of carbon and silicon to create a ‘Desired Outcome’. An outcome of value where a consumer decides to purchase a product or manager decides what product to sell.
“From time immemorial, humans have relied on the discovery of information for their survival … and when you think of it all of life uses information to make a variety of decisions.
IT is the art and craft of forging data, Information, ideas, knowledge and decisions into updated sources of information for whomever requires it to use it from wherever they require it.
